The Poly850 is an emulation of a vintage synthesizer. The original is half digital and half analogue- the tone generation and envelopes are digital while the filter and chorus effect are analogue. The Poly850 features 2 oscillators, 3 envelopes, a modulation generator and a filter.
The unique thing about the oscillators is, that you can toggle 4 different square overtones per oscillator, each spaced 1 octave apart. There are 2 overtone types, one which generates a sawtooth and another which generates a square waveform, you can blend between those types seamlessly using the OT MIX knob in the oscillator sections.
The emulation not only models the original but extends it in many ways :
· Full MIDI and Automation support
· Every parameter can be controlled directly via mouse or via MIDI
· Velocity sensitive
· Polyphony (number of voices) twice as high, and variable
· Larger value ranges
