Improvements:
- Updated manuals
- Updated texts
- Updated lesson package
- Suppressing unnecessary question about "stop audio" on document close.
Bug fixes:
- Running the "Analyze audio" command from the context menu of the File Browser would only create .asd files if the respective Preferences option was set to "On". Now "Analyze audio" is independent of the preferences option.
- On Mac OS X, the date in Live's File Browser would not reflect daylight savings time.
- Under certain conditions, the pad of a Drum Rack would have a "sticky" hotswap button until mousing over that pad again.
- The progress bar for consolidating could sometimes show values greater than 100%.
- When switching the MIDI input sources of a track, pitchbend values would not be reset.
- MIDI mapping the transpose parameter of an audio clip could lead to not quantized values.
- Sending of MIDI Song Position Pointer message beyond bar 1025 would lead to incorrect behavior and different behavior on Mac OS X and Windows.
- Under certain conditions, the Operator and Sampler envelopes could go out of sync. We provide a Options.txt entry called "_AdsrRepeatQuantizeTo16th" to restore the previous behavior.

Improvements:
- Updated manuals.
- Two new Lessons: "Compression and Sidechaining" and "Session Drums."
- Added control surface support for the Akai MPD24. The volumes of tracks 1 to 6 are mapped to the faders. The encoders are mapped to macro controls. The order of the mapping is based on the feedback of this forum poll: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=82431
- Support for dynamic adjustment of the plug-in buffer size for Audio Units. For technical reasons, an Audio Unit device must be instantiated for a buffer size change.
- Improvements for dialog to set up a Library when starting Live without one.
- On Mac OS X, Live now supports up to 256 input & output mono channels of the selected audio device.
- It is now possible to drag a complete folder with presets and/or samples from the Browser onto a Drum Rack's pads.
- Updated texts.
- Improve the performance when loading large presets.
- Support for the Record LED when using the Remote SL as a controller surface.
Bug fixes:
- Under certain conditions, the chooser for the Library path would not update properly.
- The message box saying that the selected Library is not available would not be displayed properly.
- When Live is running as the MIDI clock master, the first two sent MIDI clock messages could have the same time stamp. An Options.txt entry called '-_Live6ClockOutputCompatibility' brings back the old behavior if required.
- Analog instrument with unison enabled would always use CPU power even if it was not used.
- Dropping an instrument on a pad or chain that has devices would not replace the chain.
- Quitting Live because the expiration date was reached would lead to a crash on Mac OS X 10.5.x.
- Deleting a track with a Rack in Mappping mode would crash Live.
- Switching Sampler or Simpler presets during playback could lead to a short but heavy audio signal distortion.
- When using more than 8 return tracks, the return track volume mixing would not work properly.
- Under certain conditions, a song loop back jump could lead to a hard disk overload.
- Starting up Live with a corrupt header template document would lead to a crash.
- When using particular audio files, Live could crash for certain warp actions.
- In the inline mixer, resizing a chain would resize all other chains too.
- When scrubbing behind the loop within a clip, looping would not work properly after the next song start / stop.
- On Windows, when loading a Rack that contains an AudioUnit (which is disabled on PC), Live would crash when opening or closing Rack chains, or when turning one of the other rack marbles on or off.
- Installing a content package update could result in an imprecise success message.
- In ReWire slave mode, sending MIDI data from the master to more than one target within Live could result in audio drop-outs.
- Freezing of Drum Racks with chain-out routings to the top level would not work properly.
- Changing the "Block" value in the Spectrum device would cause audio drop-outs.
- In ReWire slave mode, clips would play from the beginning after rewinding.
- Under certain conditions, the MIDI handling of VSTs could not work properly.
- Undoing the creation of a time signature change would crash Live.
- When installing several packages at once, if one contained a file that already existed and was modified locally, the question whether to replace this file was asked for each pack even when the user answered 'yes to all'.
- Under certain conditions, a progress bar could display a value greater than 100%.
- Under certain conditions, default content would not be installed when a certain version of Live would run for the first time.
- On Mac OS X, changing the Library path to an empty folder would not work properly.
- Certain texts would not fit into their corresponding button controls.
- On Windows, Live's main view would not be updated if a certain dialog was in the foreground.
- Under certain conditions, content packages marked as 'update' would not be automatically installed.

- Several updated or corrected info texts.
- Updated Manuals.
- Updated Lesson pack.
- Smaller button for automation lanes.
- Include the track index only in automatic names, but not in user names (also not in the routing choosers). To include the index manually, you have to prefix the custom name with one or multiple '#' characters.
- Support for Propellerheads Recycle 1 files (.rcy).
- Info texts are not only displayed on mouse over but also when a corresponding object (clip, track, parameter,...) is selected.
- The current velocity value when creating a MIDI note is kept globally.
Changing the velocity of the MIDI keyboard also updates the current velocity value.
- Update bitmaps for fold buttons.
- MIDI Surface Controller support for Faderfox LV1, LX1, LV2, LX2, LC2 & LD2.
- There is a 'PreviewAlwaysSyncedToSong' entry you can use in the Options.txt file. With that option, Live does not use heuristics to determine the clip tempo when song is not running for pre-listening in the browser.
- On Windows, MME is now used as the default instead of the DirectMusic for MIDI ports that provide both types. We are still working on a solution for the drop-out problems some users experienced when using a Remote SL-based MIDI controller surface with a DirectMusic port. If you have that problem, we currently recommend to use MME instead of DirectMusic.
- Drum Rack Support for Korg KONTROL49 & microKONTROL.
- Windows only: If the DebugOption "-_EnsureKeyMessagesForPlugins" is set in the Options.txt, we make sure that all key messages reach a plugin's window in front. That way, edit fields are again editable in the NI VST plug-ins. On the downside, key messages do not reach Live anymore as soon as some objects in the window of the VST plug-in are selected. Thus, for example, once an edit field has been edited, Live's playback cannot be started via Space until Live's main window regains focus.
- In the mixer, chains are now treated as any other track concerning solo. That way soloing a chain in the Session mixer mutes every track except the one containing the Rack.
- Control Surface support for the Korg ZERO8.
- Previous version of Live only accepted zero-length MIDI notes when the Options.txt entry "-_AllowZeroDurationNotes" was set. Now zero-length MIDI notes are accepted by default and the option is not longer required.
- Dropping instruments onto tracks, pads or chains replaces the complete device chain and not only the previous instrument. To replace the instrument only, you can drag it over the previous instrument.
- The inline Rack mixer provides an "Extract chains" command via its context menu.
- Control Surface support for the Akai MPD32.

- Enhanced Audio Engine
Live 7's enhanced audio engine improves fidelity with precision 64-bit summing at all mix points throughout the program, POW-r dithering, optimized sample-rate conversion and other advances.
- New Compressor
The new compressor device integrates the compression models of Compressor I and II, and offers a new model based on a feedback design commonly found in the most praised vintage compressors.
- Sidechaining
Fully integrated side-chaining capability is available for the new Compressor as well as Gate and Auto Filter.
- Device High-Quality Modes
Operator, Dynamic Tube and Saturator now feature optional High-Quality modes for anti-aliased processing, reducing typical "digital" artifacts.
- EQ Eight—New and Improved
EQ Eight sports an improved user interface and a new 64-bit mode for increased accuracy and fidelity.
- Introducing Spectrum
The new Spectrum device is an analyzer that provides real-time visual feedback for any audio signals within Live (and it looks really cool!).
- Improved MIDI Timing
The MIDI engine has been reworked, and we were able to significantly reduce timing error (jitter) of recorded MIDI.
- Easy Hardware Integration
Hardware integration has been streamlined with the addition of two new devices—External Instrument and External Audio Effect—allowing hardware synthesizers and effects to be inserted into device chains just like software plug-ins.
- Enhanced Memory Management
New memory management technology allows users of large sample libraries, such as Ableton's new sampled instruments or third-party libraries imported via Sampler, to run an impressive number of instruments at the same time. This happens automatically, with no setup changes required.
- Audio Engine Fact Sheet
The Audio Engine Fact Sheet explains exactly how signals are (or are not) being modified when performing fundamental audio operations in Live, and provides tips for achieving the highest quality results.
- MIDI Engine Fact Sheet
The MIDI Engine Fact Sheet documents MIDI timing tests on both Windows and Mac platforms using various MIDI interfaces, and describes exactly what users can expect in terms of MIDI timing accuracy.
- Time Signature Changes
Live 7 allows the use of multiple time signatures within a single Live Set in the Arrangement View timeline and Session View scenes.
- Video Export
Video that has been edited or warped in Live can be exported to a new file.
- Easier Automation
Multiple automation lanes per track can be displayed and edited at the same time.
- Tempo Nudge
A new "tempo nudge" function makes it easier to synchronize to live musicians or DJs.
- REX Support
REX files can be dragged, dropped and played just like WAV or AIFF files.
- Many Other Important Improvements
Live, Operator and Sampler have received many important improvements and additions based on user requests.
- Introducing the New Drum Rack
The new "Drum Rack" streamlines beat production via an easy drag-and-drop interface and brings endless creative possibilities.
A familiar drum pad interface allows dragging and dropping of samples, instruments and effects. Each pad has its own device chain and can be shown as a mixer channel in the Session View. Each Drum Rack also has its own sends, returns and sub-mixes.
The slicing feature fills a Drum Rack with the individual hits from REX or audio loops. The original sequence is represented as a MIDI clip, making it easy to replace, reshuffle or re-record the events and process them individually.

- The Root key would not be displayed for MIDI note range mappings.
- The MPK49 controller surface script would not work properly when using its buttons.
- The Oxygen8v2 and Oxygen8 controller surface scripts would not correct handle MIDI CC.
- Clip View Transpose and Volume parameters would not process single-key MIDI mappings.
- Using the Grain Delay effect device could lead to a glitch in the audio signal.
- The MIDI feedback for switch and button controls would not work properly.

Improvements :
- When using the "Get Support" command from the 'Help' menu, a short lesson appears explaining a few ways how to get support.
- The installing of default packages, which are installed when a certain Live version is started for the first time, is started after the splash screen is closed. Until now the default packages are installed during "splash screen time". A progress bar shows the status of the default package installation process. Furthermore that improvement solves several graphical update problems with the splash screen on Windows Vista.
- Extended the volume and frequency range for the test tone within the audio preferences.
Volume range is now: -70 to 0 db
Frequency range is now: 5 to 20000 Hz
- Until now, when mapping MIDI CC to a on/off button, the button is switched when the MIDI CC value crossed 64.
Now, it is possible to set up min and max value for such a mapped button.
The idea is that when the CC value is between min and max, the button is switched on (or off in reverse mode).
If the CC value is outside the min and max range, the button is switched off (or on in reverse mode).
- Native script support for the AKAI MPK49.
Bugfixes:
- On Windows Vista, the "Show in explorer" context menu command would not show the right folder.
- Live could crash when move a file within Live's browser during pre-listen.
- Live could crash when doing a hot-swap in the file manager.
- The "All Tracks" option of the Render dialog was missing.
- On OS X, if the "Template.als" would be an alias, it could not be loaded from Live.
- Live could crash on certain actions when a MIDI controller surface was selected in the MIDI preferences.
- On Windows, saving a preset of a rack containing a disabled AU plug-in would crash Live.
- On OS X, Live would silently crash when having no write access to the /tmp folder.
Now, Live shows a message box and quits normally afterwards.
- Within a rack device, a hot-swap button could not be toggled.
- Renaming a macro control, which has been mapped to an outer rack's macro control, would not be possible.
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53130
- On Windows, it would not be possible to export a MIDI clip whose name contains a slash.
- In Sampler, the Lin/Pow crossfade switch of the zone editor would not be saved with a preset.
- Rendering normalized would not always work properly.
- Loading a certain corrupt document could crash Live. Now Live shows a message that the document is corrupt.
- Some MIDI events sent from VSTs would not be processed properly in Live.
- When using the mouse to copy a Arrangement clip within a track containing an Audio Unit plug-in, certain parameter automation would be destroyed.
- Depending on the settings, the Erosion effect device could sound different when using 'Render to Disk.'
- Depending on the settings of aux env/lfo on sample start, sustain loop start, sustain loop length or release loop start, Sampler would access more memory than necessary.
- When using the Tranzport as control surface, un-arming a track with no input before arming another track exclusively would not work properly.
- Under certain conditions (global record active and at least one track armed) Live would crash when moving certain audio effect devices.
- Live would crash when clicking on a locator and pressing the delete key at the same time.
