AnaMod presents the ATS-1 Analog Tape Simulator, the first product that uses the AnaMod process for modeling complex analog circuitry entirely in the analog domain.
Specially developed analog building blocks are 'coded' to emulate the behavior of a complex analog system. Unlike digital plug-ins or processor-based outboard gear, there is no latency, and no A/D or D/A conversions to compromise the sound. The result is a faithful recreation of the original response, without using the original analog hardware.
All of the important features of a two-track analog tape machine are found in the ATS-1, including speed selection, bias, LF record and HF Repro EQ, and the option of adding tape hiss, if desired. The reference 'record' level, as indicated on the illuminated VU meters, can be adjusted from 0 to +12 dBu in 3 dB increments.
The ATS-1 accurately models the behavior of specific tape machines and tape formulations, and allows the user to select from up to four machine and tape types. Optional machine and tape types are available on easy-to-install SIMM cards. Standard tape formulation cards shipped with the ATS-1 are the GP9 and 456. Standard machine cards are the A800 and M79.
The ATS-1 is available at a suggested price of $2995 / €2750.
Algorithmix has announced two new VST 3 plug-ins - K-Stereo and LP SplitComp.
K-Stereo is based on a patented psychoacoustical process that extracts the ambience inherent in ordinary recordings and is capable of spreading it around the soundstage as well as enlarging its depth and width without adding any artificial reverberation. K-Stereo does not have a sound of its own - it fills in what's been missing. It is also capable to make a natural mono to stereo conversion.
LP SplitComp is a high-resolution linear-phase mastering split compressor featuring parallel mode, linear-phase split filters, adjustable soft knee, intelligent auto-release, and parameterized soft clipper. It is compatible to the newly released VST 3.0 and thus multichannel compliant.

SPL unveils a brand new product : Phonitor. The name already implies the key feature: SPL announces that with the Phonitor headphones now become a full alternative to monitoring speakers. To allow for control of sound impressions comparable to speakers in a room, the Phonitor offers new parameters such as Crossfeed, Speaker Angle and Center Level.
Based upon SPL's unique 120 V technology which was initially developed for their mastering product series, the Phonitor aims at high-end users to fulfill highest demands in sound quality. It is SPL's flagship of a new sort of headphone amps they call Headphone Monitoring Amplifiers. The company plans to launch further units in standard technology soon, e. g. a RackPack module.
Availability of the Phonitor is scheduled for May 2008.
Mackie today unveils its new U.Series production mixers with the U.420 and the U.420d. Designed for the needs of todays musicians, DJs and producers, Mackie U.Series provides flexible connections and an intuitive, centralized user interface to ease workflow and maximize creativity.
Each model features a micro-master section with otherwise full-size qualities such as a prominent master volume knob and high resolution metering. Mic or stereo line channel strips with 3-band active EQ, a built-in DI box and RIAA phono preamps allow you to plug-in, and turn up for live sound and recording via integrated stereo Firewire I/O. Ingenious "loop-thru" routing enables you to mix and record analog and DAW playback with a couple of simple moves. Each offers a stereo aux send, headphone out with pre-main level control and self-monoing outputs.
The U.420 4-channel high-headroom stereo line mixer offers 3-band "full-kill" active EQ on each channel, a built-in DI box and a Mackie designed RIAA phono preamp. Line 6 announces POD X3 Pro. Like all members of the POD X3 family, it offers two discreet signal paths. Split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create new hybrids, or use its dual inputs to individually process two instruments—a microphone and a guitar, for example—at the same time.
Computer-based studios will want to exploit the USB 2.0 connectivity provided by POD X3 Pro for multi-channel recording as well as its S/PDIF or AES/EBU Stereo Digital Audio I/O for sending a direct digital signal to their DAWs. MFB launches MFB-SYNTH 3, the semi-modular version of MFBs Synth-II.
MFB-SYNTH3 works as a stand-alone synthesizer without the need to patch any cable. The classic formation of VCO-VCF-VCA is pre-wired internally, complete with essential modulations. Yamaha announces the new MM8 Music Synthesizer. Like the MM6, the MM8 features sounds from the popular Motif Series, real-time control, street-smart grooves, seemless computer integration, and adds an 88-note Graded Hammer action Yamaha keyboard.
The MM8 synthesizer not only features sounds from the Motif, but also its quick edit knobs and arpeggios for comprehensive real-time control of those sounds. Jamming over the built-in grooves in Performance Mode sparks creative ideas and is a great way to write songs. Toontrack Music are announcing EZplayer Pro, the expanded version of Toontrack Musics EZplayer Free.
Basically it is a plug-in MIDI engine that lets you collect and organize all the MIDI on your hard drive. You can combine, put together and fuse drum and percussion MIDI clips from individual kit pieces to entire arrangements and audition them with your favorite drum sampler in EZplayer Pro before dragging them into your sequencer. It includes map-wrappers between different drum sampler formats. These allow you to use the MIDI from one brand of drum sampler with a sampler from another brand as a sound source on the fly. The map-wrapper encompass all common brands in the market.
EZplayer Pro is organized as a multi track arranger where every track can be connected to a virtual instrument in the main sequencer and EZplayer Pro be utilized to audition different instruments in combination before you adjust them in detail. The tracks and the sub tracks with fills and variations can also be aligned to a hardware controller such as a keyboard or percussive controller to trigger MIDI sequences live.
EZplayer Pro is a VST, AU and RTAS compatible plug-in and will be included on disc together with Superior Drummer 2.0 as its MIDI engine. It will also be available separately in april of 2008 both as a download purchase and in a boxed version at €35/£25/$49.
Building on the success of the popular A7, ADAM Audio announces the expansion of the A Series with the new A5 Powered Monitor.
Designed using the same technologies as the existing ADAM monitors, the A5 is a smaller version of the A7, and can be used either in stereo or to fill out a 5.1 surround system. Powered by 2X25W on-board amplifiers, the A5 combines ADAM's ART (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) folded ribbon tweeter with a 5" woofer constructed of a carbon fiber and Rohacell® sandwich. The front of the A5 sports dual ports for low frequency response down to 55Hz, metal grills for added durability, as well as power and gain controls. The rear panel includes balanced XLR jacks, unbalanced RCA jacks, and a new development by ADAM called Stereolink®. This new technology connects speakers with input and output jacks allowing the user to control the overall volume of the system from any one speaker's gain control, making the A5 a great match for desktop recording systems.
The A5 comes in a choice of traditional ADAM matte black ($699 pr) or new glossy "piano" finishes in black or white ($769 pr). Optional wedge-like stands enhance desktop recording by allowing the A5 to be positioned at an upward angle.
ADAM Audio is also introducing the Sub7 ($479 matte black, $529 glossy black/white), a new compact subwoofer designed to compliment the A5. Despite its small footprint, it is capable of extending the frequency reproduction of the A5 down to 30Hz. Multiple inputs (both XLR and RCA) and controls allow the system to be fine-tuned to any listening environment. A wireless remote control for adjusting the volume and crossover frequency from the listening position is also provided.
API presents a new model of lunchbox : the API Model 500-6B Lunchbox. Basically it is a six position rack designed to accept all API standard 5.25 X 1.5 modules. This allows an engineer the flexibility to bring along specialized EQ effects to any situation: 550A, 550B or 560. The Lunchbox is self-powered, with a rear panel selected AC voltage switch, and a removable power cord. The input/output jacks are XLR.
The Lunchbox comes standard with a +48 volt internal phantom power supply, bussed to pin 15 for interface with the API 512C.
Numark has announced the Mixmeister Control, a controller designed and optimized to work like a true hardware extension of the MixMeister interface but it can also control other MIDI-capable DJ software.
If you already use MixMeister, you will be performing in seconds. MixMeister Control even comes with a full version of MixMeister Fusion software - the perfect way to get started. Virsyn has just released TDesign - The Transient Designer, a new plug-in that aims to shape the transient of an audio signal.
The idea behind the TDesign is to give the user direct control over the attack and sustain characteristics of natural sounds. Take a recording of an unremarkable drum kit and dial in some really hard-hitting attack or take a very percussive sound and soften the attack. You can also use the sustain control to work on the decay portion of sounds, and with drums you can tighten up the sound to give a fast, dry decay or you can make them ring as though you'd taken the dampers off the kit.
Unique to TDesign is the ability to shape the transient not only amplitude wise but also with a dynamically controlled 24 dB lowpass filter with resonance control. This gives you the opportunity to change the sound in a way which normally is only possible if you recreate it with a synthesizer.

Prosoniq has announced that they are introducing the 10th Anniversary Audio Unit Edition of their famous OrangeVocoder plug in for the Mac at this year's Musik Messe in Frankfurt.
The 10th Anniversary AudioUnit Edition takes the vocoder one step further by making it AudioUnit compatible and adding a wealth of features that the original product didn't have.
